I. Definition of a Lan Party

A LAN party is a temporary, sometimes spontaneous, gathering of people together with their computers, which they network together primarily for the purpose of playing multiplayer computergames. These local area networks (LANs) come in various sizes, from very small (two people) to very large (more than 10,000 people). Small parties can form spontaneously, but large ones usually require a fair amount of planning and preparation on the part of the organizer. More here



II. The Goal

- To gather as many as 500 participants to play a variety multiplayer games.
- Showcase participants’ modified or “modded” PCs and consoles.
- Inform participants and event spectators of the latest trend and cutting edge technology in PC products and services.
- Encourage IT(Information Technology) awareness.
- Put Cebu on the map as the first to host such an event of this size.
- Showcase Cebu as the premiere destination for the IT industry in the Philippines.



III. The activities involved in the MBM LAN Party

1. Gaming(5-8 Game Booths) with the following planned games:

a. Call of Duty 4
b. DOTA
c. Counter-strike Source
d. NBA Live
h. Need For Speed

*Games may vary depending on participant registration

2. PC Modding Competition

- Voting will be done by the LP attendants


3. Freeware and shareware file sharing, tips and tricks sharing, customization and upgrades.

4. Meet/EB with fellow enthusiasts, as well as a chance to mingle with PC and Gaming experts

5. PSP Eyeball and Meet

6. Gathering of gadget enthusiasts and gamers of all platforms. PC and Gadget Show.


IV. Setups and Conditions

a. Location –CICC Plenary Hall, good for more than 500 PCs and accessories, including a PC/Gadget show, booths to be sold to PC suppliers/retailers

PC Modding/Customization Champion, 1st and 2nd runner up

h. Tickets include 1 vote card and raffle stub

i. Sale items from Booth Sponsors, PC and hardware retailers

j. Overclocking competition

A gathering of computer enthusiasts who bring their computers to the same place to share their blogs, software programs, videos, photos, or simply to play cybergames. We look forward to everybody joining, as we try to hit a local record of 500 computers under one roof! We are hoping that when the web and blogs publishes pictures of over 500 enthusiasts in a big LAN party, it will further enhance the image of Cebu as an IT savvy and computer literate city.

The LAN Party will be held from 8:00 a.m. on August 23 straight upto 8:00 a.m. on August 24 at the CICC. Accommodation will be on a first come first serve basis.

Entrance is at P50 per person, but those bringing computers will be charged P400 per computer (includes entrance of one person only) for the cost of network as well as electricity. Network Switches and tables/chairs will be available, but users may want to bring their own UPS, AVRs, and monitors. Those preferring not to bring their own monitors may rent ( for 24 hours) a 17 inch LCD monitor for another P200. There is a discount if the person books and buys a ticket before august 10 - only P350 per computer, or P450 per computer including rental of one LCD monitor.
Internet Cafes are welcome to bring computers also for rental inside. Special rates will be given if they bring in 10 or more computers. People not bringing computers may rent from internet cafes at the rate of P1,000 for the full 24 hours ( you can assign other people to take your place if you don't stay that long), or at P50 per hour.
Booths for computer job fair, and also for selling of foods/drinks are also available for a minimal fee. There will also be free Wifi inside, as well as an access point for PSP gaming. There will be numerous contests and other promos that will be done inside. Contests for various network games, best gaming PC, as well as best gaming PC by a computer reseller will be conducted.

Only 500 slots are available so those bringing computers are asked to call NGenius Ayala at telephone numbers 2324546, and mustreserve and buy the ticket prior to the event. Slots will be given out on a first come first served basis.
